On the south coast of France, Marseille, is one of the largest and oldest city on France and the largest on the Mediterranean coast. The church dates to the twelfth century and the chapel to the seventeenth century. The Musee d'Histoire details the ancient Greek and Roman history within the city through the remains of the Hellenic port and a preserved sixth century boat hull.

Outside the environs of the city center there is also plenty to see and do with beaches, open spaces such as the Pharo gardens, a botanical garden and the Parc Longchamp with impressive waterfalls and fountains. It is also home to the Longchamp Palace with the Natural History Museum and the Musee de Beaux Arts. Just outside the center is the Musee du Terroir Marseillaise, which is dedicated to the traditions and crafts of the Provencal region.
